ChitoGauze® XR Pro har utviklet seg fra HemCons svært effektive ChitoGauze® dressing. Den har innvevd en røntgentråd som gjør at gasbindet er enkelt å identifisere under røntgenundersøkelse. ChitoGauze® XR Pro er et hemostatisk gasbind designet for å stoppe moderate og svært alvorlige blødninger.
HemCon har meget godt omdømme i utviklingen av hemostatiske midler, med det berømte og lenge etablerte «4×4 HemCon» gasbindet. ChitoGauze® XR Pro representerer den nyeste generasjonen av sårhemostatiske midler fra HemCon.
ChitoGauze® XR Pro tilpasser seg lett til et bredt spekter av sårprofiler, som gjør det enkelt å pakke sår for å få rask blødningskontroll. Chitosanet er impregnert gjennom gasbindet, og er spesielt designet for å begrense partikkelspredning i såret, i motsetning til enkelte andre hemostatiske gasbind.

"ChitoGauze® XR PRO is a z-folded, chitosan impregnated gauze. Chitosan is a naturally occurring, biocompatible polysaccharide and the haemostatic properties of chitosan enhance the ability of the medical gauze to control the bleeding. The robust, uniformly applied chitosan coating on the gauze allows for optimal chitosan blood interaction to effectively control bleeding. The chitosan further reduces blood loss by helping the dressing conform to the wound site while providing a physical barrier to prevent bleeding. This mechanism of action supports localized clotting within and on the gauze to stop bleeding quickly and independently of the clotting cascade. The dressing readily conforms to wound surfaces with complex geometries to allow efficient staunching of all bleeding".

Intended Use: HemCon ChitoGauze® XR PRO is a haemostatic dressing for the external, temporary control of severely bleeding wounds.
Instructions for use:
- Open foil pouch and remove ChitoGauze® XR PRO
- Identify and cover the source of bleeding with the dressing, apply direct digital pressure to the source of bleeding
- Pack dressing completely into wound track. Use enough ChitoGauze® XR PRO to fill the wound and contact all bleeding surfaces. More than one dressing may be required
- If cutting the dressing to a smaller desired size, ensure the radiopaque element is included in the parts you are using
- Apply pressure until bleeding is controlled
- Wrap and secure dressing on wound to maintain pressure
Cautions/Warnings:
- FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY, DO NOT IMPLANT
- Do not use if seal is broken and/or contens are wet
- Do not apply over eyes
- Do not use near the spine
- Use promptly after opening
- Contains chitosan from shellfish
- Single use only, re-use may result in cross-infection and/or loss of efficacy
- Discard any unused portion of the product
- Do not resterilize
- Not made with natural rubber latex

Her beskrives bl.a. følgende:
"Traumatisk hjertestans skiller seg fra hjertestans av medisinske årsaker og krever en egen behandlingsalgoritme. Pasienter med traumatisk hjertestans skal behandles like aktivt som andre hjertestanspasienter. Tidlig identifisering og aggressiv behandling av reversible årsaker som hypovolemi fra ukontrollerbar blødning, hypoksi og obstruktive årsaker som trykkpneumotoraks og tamponade, er avgjørende for overlevelse. Dette betyr at umiddelbare tiltak som fokuserer på behandling av reversible årsaker skal prioriteres foran brystkompresjoner...
Hypovolemi fra ukontrollerbar blødning er den hyppigste reversible årsaken og krever umiddelbar hemostase og volumresuscitering. Eksterne blødninger behandles med elevasjon, direkte trykk, kompresjonsbandasjer, pakking av sårhule, turniké eller hemostatiske midler. Ikke-komprimerbare blødninger håndteres med bekkenslynge, reponering av lange rørknokler, blodprodukter (ev. væske og traneksamsyre) samtidig som pasienten raskt bringes til kirurgisk blødningskontroll. Prehospital transfusjon med plasma, erytrocytter eller fullblod bør brukes der det er tilgjengelig."
